Shape is a clue; the symbol, location and other signals complete the meaning. This Spanish Category B guide uses original drawings and examples. They are independent learning material, not official DGT questions.
Separate three different messages

| Example | Message | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| A: triangle with exclamation mark | A danger warning | The hazard and how to adapt your driving |
| B: red circle containing 60 | Posted maximum of 60 km/h | Its road or lane scope and any lower limit for your vehicle |
| C: blue circle with a straight arrow | Mandatory straight-ahead direction | The direction actually shown by the arrow |
Colour alone cannot answer a question. Supplementary plates can specify times, distances or affected vehicles. A blue bicycle symbol does not mean the same thing as an arrow.
STOP versus give way

Give way means yielding to the priority road and stopping when necessary. STOP requires a complete stop followed by yielding. Seeing no vehicles does not remove the STOP requirement. Also look for the stop line and check visibility before moving.
When signals appear to conflict
The general order is officers, temporary signals that change normal road use, traffic lights, vertical signs and road markings. When conflicting signals belong to the same type, the more restrictive one prevails. Article 133 and the situation's specific rules are the reference: a green lane arrow, for example, does not cancel a stop signal you must still obey.
Two quick checks
Sign B is present, but heavy rain makes the road hard to see. Must you keep doing 60? No. It is a maximum, not a required speed; adapt to visibility.
Sign 1 is replaced by sign 2 at the same empty junction. What changes? A complete stop is now required, even if you could otherwise pass without delaying anyone.
Use the current catalogue, then practise
The revised catalogue took effect on 1 July 2025; physical sign replacement is gradual. Consult the current BOE catalogue. An old picture cannot establish which exact questions will appear in your exam.
Continue with junction and roundabout priority, speed limits by situation and reasoning scenarios. Open the road-sign lessons.
