You can apply for the category B theory test through a driving school or independently. The application starts the process; the exam notice tells you when to attend. An appointment at a traffic office is not, by itself, an exam date.
Driving school or independent application
If a school handles it, ask which documents to provide, what its quotation includes and how it will notify you of the exam. Do not assume enrolment, the official fee and arranging your exam are one payment.
Independently, you can submit the application at a Jefatura or Oficina de Tráfico, or through the Electronic Registry. Online submission requires accepted identification, such as an electronic DNI, electronic certificate or Cl@ve. Before visiting an office, check how to book the administrative appointment.
Documents to prepare
The DGT list includes:
- The completed and signed official application form.
- A psychophysical fitness report from an authorised centre. It is valid for 90 days.
- Proof of the fee if you have already paid; you can also pay by card at the office.
For an in-person application, prove your identity with original, valid documents. Requirements depend on your circumstances, for example Spanish, other EU or non-EU nationality. Check your case in the official list before attending.
If attaching files, check that they are legible, complete and contain the correct details. Keep the payment receipt and submission acknowledgement.
After submitting
Online submission does not generate an immediate exam date. The DGT processes the application and notifies you of the decision and exam appointment. It does not guarantee a fixed processing time. Follow the instructions received before arranging travel.
Confirm language and adjustments
Mazlet’s study languages do not determine those available in the official test. Check your option with the DGT or school. If you need an adjustment, ask how to request it before the exam appointment.
While you wait
Read how the theory test works and start the Learning Path. Mazlet helps you study, but does not submit the application or book an exam.
