How to book your Belgian theory exam

Booking the category B theory exam starts with choosing where you intend to continue your driving training. Picking the nearest appointment without considering your practical exam can create extra work later.

Choose the region before the date

Use the official regional guide to find an approved centre: Vlaanderen for Flanders, Brussels Mobility for Brussels, and SPW for Wallonia. Follow its link to the centre’s own booking system. Do not assume all centres accept walk-ins or offer translated sessions every day.

Brussels requires a Brussels theory pass for its practical test. Flanders has announced a corresponding regional requirement from 1 January 2027. Check the rules that apply on your intended practical-test date before booking across regions.

Check eligibility and documents

The category B theory exam is available from age 17. Ask the centre which original identity or residence document it accepts for your situation. A photo on your phone is not a substitute. If you have already failed twice, check whether you must present a driving-school certificate.

Prepare a small checklist:

  • Exact centre address and reporting time.
  • Original accepted identity document.
  • Booking confirmation and any required certificate.
  • Confirmed language or adapted-session arrangement.
  • Accepted payment method.

Confirm the full price

Fees depend on the region and session. The Flemish guide currently lists €19, with an additional €43 for audio translation. For Brussels and Wallonia, consult the current centre tariff before paying: older general-information pages may show a previous year’s price. Ask whether language assistance is included and what happens if you cancel.

The evening before

Plan the journey and leave time for registration. Put your documents together, then stop cramming. A short review of recurring mistakes is more useful than repeatedly guessing through a mock exam. Save the official booking confirmation so you can check the location without relying on memory.
